About J.J.

The financial advisory industry is in J.J.’s blood. After graduating with an economics degree from Wabash College in Indiana, he joined his father’s financial advisory team at Merrill Lynch, where he learned the ropes and built a passion for the profession. J.J. spent the first five years of his career on a three-advisor team at Merrill Lynch, mastering the skill of building relationships with affluent clients to better understand their needs and to ensure continuity of the relationships.  He spent much of his time helping the team grow by networking in the community, hosting client appreciation events, organizing intimate events with clients and prospective clients, and leveraging LinkedIn and other digital platforms to develop new relationships.

During his tenure on the team, J.J. also implemented several key initiatives to help the firm improve the client experience and internal efficiencies.  He led the charge in utilizing the team’s CRM system and other technology to consistently communicate with clients and prospective clients and worked with two senior advisors to enhance the client experience by refining the team’s client review meetings, financial planning, and solution development.  With these enhancements, client conversations moved from focusing on portfolio performance to focusing on the client’s specific needs, goals, and dreams and how to achieve those goals with a customized plan, leading to a deeper client engagement and better client experience.

After spending several years as a financial advisor, J.J. found his calling in helping other financial advisors grow their businesses by founding and growing an entrepreneurial venture where he built a business around professional speaking, training and coaching leaders in the advisory and corporate professions. 

J.J. is constantly reading books and listening to podcasts on professional development, personal growth, and financial advisory business best practices and strategies; he brings that knowledge and expertise to all of his coaching members. J.J. is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and has completed comprehensive ICF-accredited coach training.

His high-energy personality helps him build people up, while creating the right environment to provide constructive coaching that helps members reach their goals. A native of Valparaiso, Indiana, J.J. loves spending time with his wife, Lauren, and their son Eli.
