Wendy Matheny

Vice President, Business Development- Mid-Atlantic

Wendy is motivated by continual progress, process improvement, and the ability to redefine investment advice that helps clients find a better way. She is passionate about the results and outcomes from effective branding and marketing, deeper client engagement, and the ability to evolve the client experience. She sees these areas as essential components of being competitive, getting greater ROI, and remaining relevant in the ever-changing financial services industry.

In the early part of her career, Wendy spent 8 years launching products and working alongside entrepreneurs in technology and software start-ups and mature firms who developed solutions that evolved businesses and transformed industries. She also drew experience from the successes of scaling businesses and building brand equity for NFL’s Winningest Coach, Don Shula, during her role in business development for his franchise models following the NFL.

Wendy has worked over last 14 years in financial services as a partner and coach to financial consultants, comprehensive wealth advisors, and CPAs to help them provide a better client experience, grow their advisory businesses, and excel with robust value propositions. Her investment and marketing backgrounds in both traditional investments, as well as alternatives, allowed her to support new, emerging and mature financial advisors, their diverse business models, and unique client opportunities.

Most recently, Wendy was a Regional Director and investment consultant for 1st Global, an independent broker-dealer and RIA with a $10b advisory platform. She successfully drove new assets for the Eastern half of the United States for 8 years with double-digit year-over-year growth.  Prior to 1st Global, she successfully developed and led marketing for private equity firm, HIG Capital, in support of business development and deal flow for their LBO, distressed debt and growth capital funds during and following the financial crisis. She worked as a Sr. Field Marketing Manager in the Southeast and South Central regions of Charles Schwab Advisor Services helping top financial advisors across 50 branches and satellites offices consistently achieve greater organic revenue growth and execute client engagement strategies.

Wendy has her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and her M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts. She is series 7 and 66 licensed, is both a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) and Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) designee, and is also an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) professional.

Outside of work, Wendy loves golfing, spending time with husband, Scott and nephews Braedon and Harrison, practicing hot yoga, taking Orange Theory classes, and supports animal rescue in Florida and North Carolina.
