Omaha, Neb. – Oct. 13 – Carson Group, a leading wealth advisory firm with over $65 billion* in assets under management (AUM), today announced that Matt Humphrey will join the firm as divisional president of its integrated advisor channel and a member of Carson’s executive leadership team. Humphrey will lead Carson Wealth’s W-2 advisor channel, working closely with teams across the organization to drive growth, strengthen the employee advisor experience and better connect the capabilities and resources supporting Carson Wealth offices.
Humphrey brings a distinctive leadership background to Carson. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, he spent eight years as an Army Aviation Officer, leading teams around the world. After earning his MBA in finance and strategy from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, he transitioned to financial services as a private wealth advisor at Goldman Sachs. Most recently, Humphrey served as executive vice president and head of Wealth & Investment Management at United Bank and CEO of United Brokerage Services, Inc., leading more than 100 financial professionals overseeing more than $12 billion in assets under supervision.
“Matt brings the combination of leadership, operating experience and advisor perspective we were looking for as we continue to build the next chapter of Carson Wealth,” said Burt White, CEO of Carson Group. “He understands what it takes to lead and grow a complex wealth management business, but just as importantly, he understands this business from the advisor and client perspective. His leadership experience has been built around bringing people together around a shared mission, and that’s exactly the kind of leader we want helping us take Carson Wealth forward.”
Humphrey’s appointment builds on Carson’s strategy to organize its business around the advisor experience, with dedicated leadership and teams focused on the distinct needs of advisors in its integrated and independent channels. Humphrey will lead the integrated channel for W-2 advisors, while Divisional President Scott Conroy leads the independent channel. The structure brings functions including business development, onboarding and business consulting more closely together within each channel, creating greater alignment and a more connected experience for advisors as they grow their businesses.
Humphrey said Carson’s growth and momentum initially caught his attention, particularly the continued expansion of Carson Wealth, which recently reached a milestone of 50 integrated offices. But it was the people and culture that ultimately convinced him to make the move. Through conversations with White and other leaders, he saw an organization with ambitious plans for the future and a collaborative culture that matched his own approach to leadership.
“Carson’s growth over the past several years speaks for itself, but what ultimately drew me here was the people and the community,” Humphrey said. “I met a team that is smart, driven, collaborative and genuinely excited about what they’re building together. There are tremendous capabilities across Carson, and I see an opportunity to bring those strengths together in ways that help our advisors grow their businesses and deliver an even stronger experience for clients. Having been an advisor myself and having led a large wealth management business, I understand both sides of that equation. I’m energized by what’s ahead and excited to get started.”
