About Julie
As Chief Legal & Administrative Officer, Julie serves as a strategic partner overseeing all legal, risk and regulatory matters for Carson Group, as well as core HR, compliance, and cybersecurity. Julie’s leadership is pivotal to enabling Carson’s innovative growth strategies and building efficient people, policy and process systems that scale with growth.
Julie’s professional journey is marked by her exceptional contributions to various organizations. She served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Risk Officer at Lead Bank, in Kansas City. During her tenure, Julie oversaw legal, risk, compliance, human resources, and information security functions, demonstrating her versatile expertise.
Early in her career, Julie was a commercial litigator and equity shareholder at McDowell, Rice, Smith & Buchanan, P.C., before taking on the role of General Counsel at Mariner Wealth Advisors.
Julie has been recognized for her outstanding leadership in the legal field, receiving accolades such as the Missouri Lawyers Weekly In-House Counsel Rising Star award and the designation of a NextGen Leader in Kansas City. She has also completed the Greater Kansas City Chamber’s Centurions Leadership Program.
Outside of her professional achievements, Julie is dedicated to the Kansas City community. She serves as Board Chair of the Women’s Employment Network and is a board member of the AdventHealth Kansas City Foundation.
Julie enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband Russ and their two boys, Henry and Emmett in the Leawood, Kansas area where they reside.
